Some of the Planets and Constellations have distinct Armenian Names from the Greek:
Others are straight translations of the Greek Names:
A remarkable study by Dr. Edward Sargsyan, The Book of the Stars, shows just how perceptive ancestral Armenians were in observing the heavens. Comparing pictures of contemporary constellations (in drawings by the 17th century Polish astronomer Yan Hevelios) with identical designs found on rock carvings in the mountains of the Gaeghama range, Dr. Sargsyan suggests that Armenians--if not having a hand in the creation of the constellations and zodiac, as is commonly believed in Armenia--were at least accutely aware of them as far as 5000 years ago.
