Trip Reports

Trip Report, July 1998
By Marc Tailly.
"Together with my wife I spent a week in this former Sovjet-state (a map of Europe and Middle East for those who don't know where it lies) on the invitation of a friend of hers. This was not a birdwatching trip but I nevertheless tried to find some species."

Marc has been gracious to allow us to publish two of his excellent images from his trips to Armenia, and told us he had used our CD-ROM TourArmenia Gold (now out of print) as a resource for his trips. We are indeed honered.

Trip Report, September 2000
By Ken Cole
"While in Armenia recently on a cultural trip arranged by the Washington Textile Museum, I eluded the churches and museums for a couple of days of birding. I had two specific primary target birds: Caucasian Grouse Tetrao mlokosiewiczi and Caspian Snowcock Tetrogallus caspius, as well as two secondary targets, Grey Partridge Perdix perdix and Radde's Accentor Prunella ocularis."

Armenian Contacts

The Birds In Armenia Project is the greatest advocate for conservation and the most knowledgeable sources about the impact of environment on Birds. They are the authors of the field guide, "The Birds of Armenia", the only printed source on this topic. They are also the only group working to exclusively conserve bird habitats.  They offer tours and guided visits, for a fee. You can reach them in Yerevan by calling Dr. Martin Adamian or his assistants Levan and Luba at (Tel (3741) 151-413, 28-15-02).
